The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared socialite Ismaila Mustapha, aka Mompha, wanted.
The anti-graft commission disclosed this via its Twitter handle on Wednesday.
According to the EFCC, the Instagram celebrity was wanted in an alleged case of retention of proceeds of criminal conduct, possession of document containing false pretences, false asset declaration, and laundering of proceeds of unlawful activity.
It urged Nigerians with information on Mompha’s whereabouts to contact the commission or the nearest police station.
“Wanted by the EFCC: Ismaila Mustapha. Anyone with useful information as to his whereabouts should contact the EFCC or the nearest police station,” the commission tweeted.
In June, Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos State Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja had issued a bench warrant for his arrest for repeatedly failing to present himself in court.
The EFCC had arrested Mompha on January 10.
He was arraigned alongside his company, Ismalob Global Investment Ltd, on January 12 on an eight-count charge bordering on laundering of over N6 billion.
The court admitted him to N200 million bail on January 18 with two sureties in like sum.
One of the sureties, the judge ordered, must own property valued at N100 million within the jurisdiction of the court.
The court also ordered the defendant to return his international passport to the custody of the court while ordering his remand in any Correctional Centre of his choice in Lagos pending the perfection of the bail conditions.
On March 28, he was released to his lawyer, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Gboyega Oyewole shortly after the court varied his bail conditions.
On June 10, the commission accused the socialite of flouting a court order and travelling to Dubai with a new passport.
On June 22, the Lagos court revoked the bail granted to him due to his absence from trial.
